Depuis belle lurette que j'ai cette pile de vieux crayonnés qui trainent et qui remontent à l'après guerre...euh...disons de 2002 à 2008.
Me suis dit qu'il serait temps d'en faire (ce)quelque chose. J'ai fait tout ces recherches de personnages pour des projets allant du jeu vidéo, aux livres pour enfants et en passant par des BD...qui ont rarement vues le jour! ah! poussière retombe...Soulagé.

Design que j’ai conçu dans une ligné plutôt retro-futuriste rouillé arborant une palette (pas laitte?) coloré qui me ressemble….barouette. Brrref, contrairement à l’autre design-insecte machin fait avant, j’ai tenté cette fois de le placer dans un décor ( aussi simpliste soit-il)

I was aiming more for the retro futuristic rusty-brownish look on this one…and ended it up with colors resembling my inner soul ( whatever that means) Compared to the previous design, I tried to incorporate this one into a simple landscape.

Bitten, swollen… but inspired by our nations blood sucking emblem ( the mighty canadien mosquito) I painted this techno-vampire-creature-of-sorts for a motivating on going sci-fi project that’s rooted deep in my veins. More to come!

Un éternuement fatal (titre que j’y donnerais) le verra accusé d’un drame et méprisé par les amis de la forêt.
(j’voulais explorer un style cartoon en aplats façon gouWache. Un style bien en contraste avec le poste précédemment ! ah ! Mais tout de même plaisant d’expérimenter.)

Chaque année, « UDON entertainment » organise un concours sur base des gros titres de CAPCOM. Les années passées, c’était Street Fighter et DarkStalkers. Cette fois-ci…ne pouvant résister, c’est la legacy Mega Man ( yééé ! des perso avec des têtes d’objets !)Le mandat étais de faire une variation, une version plus personnel d’un perso de l’univers. J’ai choisi « Magma Man » (déterré de MegaMan 2) …que vous voyez ci-haut en référence.Et voici ma version…toute chaude sortie du four.

Un décor d’une rue cliché à l’américaine que j’ai réalisé pour un intro animé d’un jeu Le décor apparaissait à l’écran sous forme d’un « panning » gauche-droite. Pendant le panning, mon concept était que les 4 portes de garage des maisons devait se lever pour révéler 4 Héros à Guitares. Ces 4 concurrents commençaient donc leur carrière au sein d’un groupe-garage ! Il étais prévue que le ciel tourne au noir et qu’un orage s’abatte ( l’origine de « Black Sabath » ?) sur cette rue presque parfaite.

Here’s a background illustration I created that was part of game's animated intro This typical american street background was to pan from left to right while the 4 garage doors raised to reveal Guitar Hero characters. Which starts the players off as garage-band contenders. (The intended audience was more for all ages. ) A thunder storm was to hit the neighbourhood and the BG was to turn grim.

Little Bobby - Logo and Character Design

Bob moi ça !….dans ce cool concept de jeu pour le iphone prevue pour sortir prochainement.
J’ai créer le logo de la compagnie ainsi que le personnage rond pour le jeu en question. Voici la recherche préliminaire ( avec seule contrainte d’être sphérique sur deux pattes)…jusqu’au concept art final du perso. I created the companies logo and the little round character for the game. Here’s some pencil research ...starting with being round on two legs being the sole direction…then developing to the final concept piece. Guitar Hero! Central stage piece

Dépoussières ce Controlleur-Guitare et Rock la baraque! Du moins c’est ce que cette pièce centrale que j’ai conçu pour une scène de Guitar Hero étais sensé inspirer. Placé en plein centre d’une scène de plage (que j’ai conçu aussi et que je posterai sous peu), les différentes couches de l’image se superposaient en panneaux pour créer un jeu d’ombres et de lumières. Les planches de surf étant plus sobres pour laisser place à des projections lumineuses. Le look années 80 Surfrock était d’inspiration ( à la Ed Hardy…)

Dust off that guitar controller and rock hard! We’ll that’s what this illustration I did for the Guitar Hero franchise was meant to inspire. This graphic piece was placed center stage ( on a beach scene that I also designed and will publish shortly.) behind the drummer and cut out in different layers to get lighting and shadows involved . Thus the bare surfboards were the prime items to influence various lighting effects. A tribute to 80’s surfrock style ( a bit of Ed Hardy in there) was the intent.

The characters size and physical attributes needed to fit a general template of an existing rig. ( Example, the small chubby kids needed to fit the same sized geometry.) Les vieilles couleurs fades des premiers comicbook de notre « Amazing » Spiderman…furent l’inspiration pour ce concept art…qui situe notre héro en duel contre Mudman dans une carrière. J’ai conçu la créature à la façon d’un « shadow of the colossus » avec le concept du jeu que spiderman pourrait s’accrocher après les grues (etc..) projeté dans le dos du colosse pour grimper jusqu’à sa tête. Tout ça sans glissé dans sa couche de boue bouillante…

The old faded colours of the original amazing spiderman comicbook served as inspiration for this concert art, where an old quarry becomes the stage for a dual between our Hero and Mudman.I designed this oversized pile of steaming evil mud in line with the intent of inticing a “shadow of the colossus” type gameplay where our hero could websling of the junk he tossed into the villains back and get to his head without falling into the steaming dripping mud. ( but that was just me enjoying the challenge)

Mandaté pour créer les nombreux panneaux publicitaires vues dans le jeu lui-même…j’ai réalisé cette fausse-publicité en pastichant un style à la Norman Rockwell des années 1930.Le défi étant de structurer l’image pour qu’elle fonctionne sur trois formats différents sans le besoin de refaire du boulot dessus. Comme vue ci-dessous.

Mandated to create many commercial advert panels in the game for all four universes, I did this one for the 1930’s noir era with Norman Rockwell’s painting style in mind. The tricky part was to structure the image in a way that it would fit in 3 different panel formats…( without extra work on the image itself)…as you can see here.

V’la donc un concept art monochrome que j’ai réalisé qui présente un duel entre Spiderman et Tombstone situant l’action dans les années 1930. Le villain n’a pas passé l’audition au jeu final. Mais le look plutôt noir et blanc a faite la job ( comme on dit)

Voici un décor que j’ai réalisé en début de pré-production pour le jeu « Spiderman : Shattered Dimensions » chez Beenox -Activision et qui présente un costume et une gamme de couleur pour l’univers « noir »… mais plutôt basé sur son look tiré du comicbook. Son look et l’univers a ensuite changé pour celui connu dans le jeu.

A concept art I did at Beenox –Activision for the “noir” universe on the « Spiderman : Shattered Dimensions » game. I based the colors and the characters suit on his look in the comic book. Later, the suit and colors changed for what you know is in the final game.

Un décor-concept art que j’ai realisé pour le niveau du barrage Hydro-électrique avec Electro. Avec tout ça, très tentant de vouloir créer un effet vertigo et un danger omniprésent d’électrocution pour notre héro en collant. Ça a donné le ton, l’ambiance et puissant duel.

With a dam involved and an electrifying character sush as Electro…I felt it right to involve a thunderstorm sparking rain on our Villain and the vertigo feel of a high rise dam for a frantic dual.

Le jeu a une connue une excellente critique et mérite le détour.

Ce que mes rêves sont faits. Bah !...non y’a pas que des trucs clichés d’amateur macho de hockey qui me hante la nuit. Mais simplement le besoin de m’exercer avec le type pin up…un peu crotté dans un style plus ruff rapide.
( léger problème avec les jambes qui me paraissent grosse et pas trop feminine…hmm)

…Voici une sélection de crayonnés que j’ai réalisés en 2005 pour Sarbakan ( Studio de jeux, Québec ) J’ai conçu les personnages, l’histoire, le logo et une série de mini-jeux (J’étais « game designer » pour 3 ans) pour internet et des consoles portables. L’histoire en résumé :
Bobby perçoit le pustule sur son avant bras comme la fin de sa vie. Les deux frères écervelés redneck se montent une liste de choses à faire avant de mourir comprenant des rêves d’ados retardés. Par contre, pour les réaliser, ils ont besoin d’argent facile. Ils partent donc faire les pires boulot pour vivre les meilleurs trip. Sur l’image plus bas, ils se retrouvent péniblement comme pompiers intérimaires

Story goes…: Bobby is convinced the rash on his forearm is lethal and figure he hasn’t got long to live. So the dim-witted redneck brothers write up a bucket list filled with rauchy teen dreams. But they need quick cash to fulfill these …so go on taking up the worst cheap labor jobs around. The “ Hot Night” image below is a “titlecard” for a game proposal in which they end up Firemen for hire…

(Dans un essai plutôt Bd-cartoon...)Voici donc l’ennemi juré de « Statik et Lectrik » Celui qui pousse aux jurons. Un repas sans repos qui rappelle à Statik qu’on n’a
jamais fabriqué du chewing-gum à la sauce soya pour des raisons bien évidentes…
Il en perd donc ses mots (et ses jambes) et une lettre de
plus à son cerveau gommeux.

Here is “Statik and Lectrik’s” all time Nemesis. He might have sliced Statik’s legs off, but evil O-fishhead is in for a treat with explosive bubblegum. This gumball is marked with a B…and that’s a real _ummer for our hero will have to limb off one gumball dummer.
Which reminds Statik why soya flavoured bubble gum never marketed. They just don’t tangle.

This world is not one for second place. Our childhood heroes have learned that the hard way.Side-kicks have been left to the side….and kicking at garbage cans on the way to their shrink.Poor Luigi…euh….I mean Robin!
So: Batmans’ underachieving partner has been accidently transformed into a beast bursting with cumulated angst for being the wussy of the two for so many years.. Batman slipped a homemade sleeping pill into Robin’s coolaid….so he could go solo at the bar and get more chances. But Robin woke up oozy, bluish with his head tearing off the roof. He’s now on a spine-snapping rampage across town.
Here’s a comic page I drew up for the sake of it. Yeah!

Parmi les Boba Fett et les vedettes has-been, j’ai vue de
jolis originaux de BD au Comic-con de
Mourial. Ça m’a inspiré d’encrer comme dans le temps. Mais quoi pardi ?
Hmm… ……J’ai pas l’explication pourquoi ce heros-type se perdrait
dans le bois pour affronter en solo des Loups-Garous enragés…à bord d’un
véhicule peu ergonomique…Mais ce que je sais pour sure, c’est qu’être un loup
garou et devoir porter une chemise en pleine forêt, je me retrousserais les
manches et passerais ma colère sur le premier venu. Voilà, (…eu du fun à le
faire.)

Back from a trip into the warps of wrath …Oh ! and the Montreal comic con late this summer.
Was strongly inspired by the fantasmagoric inked original comic book pages seen there…so I went ahead and inked something I saw suited for the style.
Can tell you why and how a lone ranger vamp with a double barrel shotgun would want to traverse a werewolf infested forest onboard a coffin-shaped veicule. But I sure know that if I were a werewolf and forced to wear a shirt and tie everyday…I’d be pissed off too.

La quatrième représente approximativement la page 45 et un moment clé du tome 1.
La cinquième…une planche donnant le ton du tome 2.

Here are (... as a blast-off of my blog-portfolio...) some pages from my
“Missionnaries on Mars” comic book proposal.
The story’s about a space quest to colonize a martian in the name of God.
There’s a wholy lot of immoral laughs ahead.
The entire story is planned to evolve through half a dozen comic books.

The three first pages are the actual first ones
The fourth page is the estimated forty fifth and represents a key moment in the storyline.
The fifth page sets the tone for the discovery of martian lifeform.
